praSCrete - A special compound modified with elastomers for the construction and repair of transition zones between the expansion joints of motorways and express freeways, designed for use in structures intended for any purposes and in transport construction.
praSCrete Scope of Application
• For transition areas between expansion joints and road pavement
• Grouting of expansion (contraction) joints in various structures
• Reduction of dynamic vehicle impact on the structure of expansion joints
• Prevention of rutting in the area of expansion joints
• For leveling and protective layer during repair and restoration of expansion joints
• For areas adjacent to railways at railway crossings
• Repair and restoration of edges of concrete and steel structures and consoles.
Target use: for bridge structures, artificial structures of traffic facilities, parking lots, railway crossings and areas adjacent to railways. Equivalents of praSCrete are Wabo-Crete II and Strelax Wabocrete.
praSCrete consists of two elastomeric components A and B; the component C is a mineral mixture consisting of various particles - from fine rheological active powder to high-strength particles of up to 5 mm. The component A (resin) is a low-viscosity liquid of black color, the component B (activator) is a viscous transparent liquid, and the component C (filler) is a mineral mixture of different-sized particles.
Advantages
• Durability, strength, wear resistance, elasticity
• Resistant to ozone, UV, aggressive media and reagents.
• Ready for use after 2-2.5 hours after installation.
• Ability to work with limited areas or intervals.
• Prevention of rutting in the expansion joint area.
• Protection of expansion joints from impacts and uniform distribution of traffic load.
• High adhesion to metal and concrete bases.
Preparation of the base:
Requirements for the base:
Concrete surfaces must be free from foreign impurities and dust. The base must be dry and solid. The age of freshly laid concrete must be at least 14 days. All traces of impurities, such as oils, lubricants, chemicals, and cement lax, must be removed. Weak and contaminated areas of the concrete surface must be removed. Tear strength of the concrete base must be at least 1.5 MPa.
Metal surfaces must be blast cleaned or treated by other mechanical methods to the standard Sa 2 1/2.
If you need to lay an expansion joint on bases made of other materials, please consult a specialist.
Material consumption:
Material consumption depends on various factors. One set of praSCrete polymer concrete A+B+C – 18.7 kg is enough for filling 10 dm3 +/- 2%. The number of required materials will be assessed directly at the work site using the trial application method.
Preparation of the praSCrete mixture
Pour the contents of the containers with the components A and B into a clean, dry container of 20 liters or more, mix the components A + B with a mixer for 15-45 seconds until the mixture becomes homogenous. Add the component C slowly and continue mixing for 1-1.5 minutes until the mixture becomes homogenous. Use a low-speed electric mixer (350-400 rpm) with a paddle bit to mix the components.→
Do not use spiral bits.
Works can be carried out at the temperature range from +1С to +45 о In case of cold conditions, ensure that all components and tools are warm to facilitate mixing. In case of hot conditions, avoid heating the components and their exposure to direct sunlight.
Polymerization: praSCrete
If you need to fill a cavity of more than 120 mm, perform the work in several steps, allowing each layer to harden before pouring on the next one. Work can be performed at ambient temperatures ranging from + 1°С to +45°С. At 20°С, curing starts in 20 minutes. Approximate time before the commencement of service: 2-2.5 hours. Complete polymerization: up to 72 hours.
The formwork must be covered with plastic strips or other materials that allow easy dismantling of the formwork.
Equipment cleaning
Clean the tools at a sufficient distance from the application area. You can clean the tools with solvents (Xylene) immediately after the application of the material. Observe safety precautions.
